12/82 KEIDANREN WANTS AGRICULTURAL LIBERALIZATION

A December 16, 1982 meeting of Keidanren called for agricultural liberalization and the establishment of a schedule for opening the market for oranges and beef in order to prevent protectionist measures overseas from being taken against Japanese goods. It was pointed out however, by agricultural interests that Keidanren is currently pushing strongly for a new law to protect structurally depressed industries currently suffering from imports, like aluminum.
