KEYWORDS: PRICE FIXING,  ANTITRUST, ANTIMONOPOLY

A Japanese businessman was likely to become the first Japanese citizen to go to prison in the US for violation of antitrust laws. He pled guilty to price fixing for sorbates when he worked for Daicel Chemical Industries, a practice that continued for 17 years. The company reached a plea bargain with US authorities in 2000.
