A Japanese freelance journalist has made some facts startling clear. The freelance journalist has led a fight against the often near incestuous relationships between Japanese government agencies and the press. Most Japanese government agencies have associated press clubs that is made up of reporters from major media, primarily major newspapers and tv. Magazine reporters and freelance journalists are often excluded. This also happens in courts. Some court cases are of obvious public interest, such as the Aum Shinrikyo's gassing of subways. This freelance journalist was often not able to obtain a seat in the court and denied transcripts of the case. The media was not closed out, but only members of press club had access.
