DEATH PENALTY STILL ALIVE & STRONG IN JAPAN
KEYWORDS: CRIMINAL LAW, DEATH PENALTY

Another frustration that the Europeans have is Japan’s continued very strong support for the death penalty, with a support level which appears to exceed even that of those dreadful Americans. I mean The Empire, err the EU has made its diktats known and there still remain defiant nations, how presumptuous of them. So the Europeans will ignore Japan in their European View of the World, there is only the EU, China. The reviled Americans can still not be ignored, but certainly Japan can be ignored. Thus Japan, a nation with an economy 3 times larger than China, or larger than Germany, France & the UK combined and a technological base greater than all of Europe combined, can simply be ignored. When having to face such distasteful facts as that there are still major nations, not just the barbarian Americans who strongly support the death penalty. Japanese support for the death penalty remains above 80%, much higher I believe than in the USA. In fact in 2003 Japanese courts sentenced to death 30 prisoners, the highest level in a decade, but was further topped with a record 42 in 2004. A civilization older than Europe, technologically equal or superior to Europe, indeed a fair & true democracy  continues to defy Europe. We will just ignore them, and blow kisses to our new hero - China, that great defender of human rights…which also has the death penalty.
