The first two cases of arrests based on wiretapping happened in 2003 following the enactment of the wiretapping law in August 2002. The two cases involved drug dealing. In accord with the terms of the law such wire tapping can be permitted only upon the issuance of a warrant by a court and only for four types of crimes: murder, people smuggling, gun offenses and drug deals.
