The Ministry of Justice is seeking to revise the Penal Code so that corporations may also be held responsible for criminal activity. Usually it has been the individuals who carried out the crime who have been prosecuted but the Ministry wants punishment against the corporation possible even when the individual culprits can not be found. For corporations which have had a particularly bad record there may be requirements for appointing outside directors or others to monitor the company’s legal compliance.
